General Rules for ALL classes:
(Please read these rules and understand them before you sign up.)
- Tech inspections are mandatory at every race pre-tech and post -tech.
- You must have a working tether cord.
- Carbides of any length and may use UP to 1/2 inch on studs or stars. (If you run cleats they must be steel) no aluminum or titanium.
- You must wear a full face helmet. Helmet must be properly secured.
- Snow flap must touch snow/ice when on sled.
- Tech may remove any sled that is unsafe at any time. If your BRAKES DON’T WORK LEAVE IT HOME!
- Flack jacket and knee protection are recommended.
- Clutches must have guards.
- If you are in the top 3 in a final, you can and will be torn down for the techs. Any tear down REFUSALS will be disqualified and lose all points for the season. If you give tech or track officials any problems , you will be suspended from these races.
- YOU MUST HAVE FUN. NO WHINING! Especially about free prizes!!!
- We have the right to change the rules at any time.
- If it is a fan cooled class you must run a fan and recoil.
- You may run Race fuel or E- 85.
- You will have to choose to run one or the other classes= Trophy or Pro stock. (HR and HD) You may not run both!
- Do not read into the rules or make up your own rules, you may be disqualified! Period.
Classes 1 through 7 are for MONEY .TROPHY Classes, 8 through 17, trophy only.
- 1973 and older HR Pro Stock (No sachs 340 ss, c, or hirth 194r allowed in hr class)
- 1973 and older HD Pro stock
- 1980 and older Fan Cooled Single MOD (no jackshafts) MOD 1
- 1980 and older Free Air Single MOD (can run single cylinder- Liquid) MOD 2
- 1980 and older Open MOD- (single/ and or multi cylinder) MOD 3
- 1980 and older Open MOD, LIQUID (any cylinder) MOD 4
- SPORTSMAN x500 (1996 & Older)
- HR Trophy
- HD Trophy
- Youth (ages 12-15) (HR/ HD)
- “School Kid” (age 16-18) (HR/ HD)
- 40+ (HR/HD)
- 50+(HR/HD)
- Womens (HR/HD)
- 1970 & Older HR
- 1973 and Older TWIN cylinder 0-440cc, 1 carb
- TWO man Buddy Class- does not carry season points. – stock single 73 or older
Classes 8 through 15 must run STOCK, single cylinder, fan cooled machines.
HR Pro Stock CLASS
1973 AND OLDER
$$ Money Class $$
Must be a production line model, fan cooled, single cylinder snowmobile that was manufactured in 1973 or before.
Drivers:
- Must agree to all decisions made by officials, uncontested!!! ( No cry babies allowed!)
- NO drug or alcohol use before or during races.
- Must have a working tether cord and USE it.
- Must wear a helmet and eye protection.
- Your brakes must be in WORKING condition. (will be checked)
Engines:
- Engines must remain stock, no grinding, porting, sandblasting, shaving on anything. Stock pistons or stock replacement, no cutting skirts.
- (this will be checked)
- Max overbore of 0.150”
- These engines NOT ALLOWED in this class; sachs 340ss,c, hirth 194r.
- Carb must be original or other diaphragm carb with 2 1/4 inch bolt pattern..
- Primary Clutch stock 1976 and older or 94 c dusters allowed.
- Exhaust and muffler must be stock or stock replacement. No tuners!
- Engine must have a point style ignition. (no cdi)
- Must have recoil.
- No fuel pumps allowed unless it was factory with the sled.
- Tear down will happen if techs decide to do so. Drivers may also put up $200.00 to have someone torn down if you have reason to believe that they are illegal. If they ARE illegal, you will get your money back. If they are LEGAL you will give them the $200.00 for the hassle.
Chassis:
- 1973 and older, no limited production or race chassis. NO jackshaft chassis.
- Skis must be original or stock replacement. NO Aluminum! Spreaders are allowed. You CAN run carbides.
- Fuel tanks should be original or same size.
- You must run a hood.
- NUMBERS must be 8” AND visible on BOTH sides. (Should be black and white) if we can’t see, we can’t score!
- Suspension and track may be 1976 and older stock production and can be reinforced. You can also run 1976 and older chain cases in this class. No sno pro suspensions.
- Snow flap must touch ice/snow with rider on machine.
Track:
- Studs CAN measure a maximum of ½” max . Will be checked with gauges.
- Any seat may be used and any handle bars.
- You can change clutching springs, weights and gear ratios.
- Brakes. May use hydraulic brake setup off of newer sled. No jack shaft chassis.
HD Pro Stock CLASS
1973 AND OLDER

Must be a production line model, fan cooled, single cylinder snowmobile that was manufactured in 1973 or before.
Drivers:

- NO drug or alcohol use before or during races.

1985 and Older FAN COOLED SINGLE MOD CLASS
(MOD1) NOJ ACKSHAFTS

Must be a production line model, FAN COOLED single cylinder snowmobile that was manufactured in 1980 or before.( no liquids cooled allowed)
Drivers:
- Must agree to all decisions made by officials, uncontested!!! ( No cry babies allowed!)
- NO drug or alcohol use before or during races.
- Must have a working tether cord and USE it.
- Must wear a helmet and eye protection.
- Your brakes must be in WORKING condition. (will be checked)
Engines:
- Engines must have a 1980 and older snowmobile bottom end
- Carb may be any make and size.
- Any clutch is allowed.
- Any exhaust allowed.
Chassis:
- Any 1985 and older Leaf Spring chassis. (NO Sno Pros)
- Skis of any type are allowed. You MUST have leaf springs.
- Fuel tanks may be any size.
- You must run a hood.
- NUMBERS must be 8” AND visible on BOTH sides. (Should be black and white)
- Suspension –any allowed.
- Snow flap must touch ice/snow with rider on machine.
Track:
- Studs CAN be a maximum of ½”above the highest point of your track. Will be checked with gauges.
- Any track and suspension allowed.
- Any seat may be used and any handle bars.
- You can change clutching springs, weights and gear ratios.
1985 and Older 0-340 cc MOD/ 0-440 cc Fan Allowed
(MOD 2)

Must be a production line snowmobile that was manufactured in 1985 or before.

- Suspension- any

Track:
- Studs CAN be up to ½” above the highest point of your track. (MAX) Will be checked with gauges.
- Any seat may be used and any handle bars.
- You can change clutching springs, weights and gear ratios.
1985 & Older 0-440 cc MOD
(MOD 3)
Single cylinder liquids allowed

1985 & Older Open MOD LIQUID (MOD 4)
Any cylinder

- Must be LOUD and FAST and can be single, twin triple or four cylinder!!
- Any Clutch
- Any Exhaust
- Any Ignition.
- Liquid Cooled/ Free air may enter
Chassis:
- 1985 and older leaf spring chassis.
- Skis- any
- Fuel tanks may be any size.
- You must run a hood.
- NUMBERS must be 8” AND visible on BOTH sides. (Should be black and white)
- Suspension- any
- Snow flap must touch ice/snow with rider on machine.
Track:
- Studs can be up to ½” above the highest point on the track. Will be checked with gauges.
- Any seat may be used and any handle bars.
- You can change clutching springs, weights and gear ratios.
SPORTSMAN x500 - 96 AND OLDER STANDARD PRODUCTION MODELS, (including Formula 340s)
No (Limited-Production) high performance sleds.

Sled MUST be and 1996 and OLDER- if it’s not, leave it at home….
Engine:
- Engine brand must match chassis brand. 500cc max 1996 and older stock.
- No reeds or exhaust valves, piston port only.
- No internal modifications. May bore .150" over stock bore.
- 340cc may have porting and polishing with a .060 over stock bore.
Chassis:
- No modifications (except) Yamaha cross members may be modified to meet the 40" rule 1996 and older
- Windshield and headlight, may be altered or removed, reinforcing allowed, dash and unnecessary brackets may be removed.
- Stock OEM hood and belly pan.
- IGNITION - Stock OEM for the engine.
- EXHAUST – Stock pipes only.
- CARBURETOR - OEM for engine, original size. Air box may be removed.
- CLUTCHES - Any OEM primary. OEM for the brand secondary. No roller secondary.
- CHAINCASE - OEM for the model.
- FRONT SUSPENSION - 40" maximum width between carbide centers. Springs, shocks, sway bars and link, radius rods and tie rods may be changed but must be fastened to stock location on bulkhead / tunnel. OEM for the model trailing arms, which may be modified to accept shocks, sway bar link and rear perch. 2.5" min. travel.
- REAR SUSPENSION - OEM for the model components only, (except) any springs shocks, and limiters. Components may be moved, removed, relocated & modified.
- TRACK - OEM or OEM replacement (width and length) rubber track in good condition. No racing tracks.
- DRIVESHAFT, JACKSHAFT - Steel OEM for the model.
- SKIS, STEERING, SEAT, FUEL TANK - Any.

1996 & Older- 500 STOCK IFS

Engine
- 1996 and older engine of the SIZE AND TYPE that was available in chassis model. NO Reeds or exhaust valves. NO external modifications except engine stop/ torque-arm. Internal modifications allowed. May bore .060" over stock bore.
Chasis
- Stock OEM no modifications, reinforcing allowed. Engine mounts and exhaust must remain in original location. May be widened to meet the 40" width rule. (Only stock front end components may be used to widen front end). Sway bars may be added or reinforced.
Ignition
- Stock OEM or OEM replacement for engine no programmable.
Exhaust
- Stock OEM for model.
Carburator-
-Any production carburetor except flat slides. Air box may be removed, no fuel injection. Stock size.
Chain Case:
-OEM for brand. This is to allow hydraulic brakes.
Rear Suspension-
-OEM for model. Wheels may be swapped with other "Stock Qualified" wheels. Snowmobile must retatin a minimum of 2" travel. No remote adjusters.
Track
- Any rubber track in good condition. NO "R" Racing tracks.
Hood
- Correct for the model, windshield MAY be altered or removed.
Brakes
- ANY working brakes allowed.
Fuel Tank
- Any be must remain in STOCK location.
Ski's-
- Must be Stock Length
Seat
- OEM for brand seat. May be cut down but must retain stock shape and minimum of 3" of height.
Driveshaft, Jackshaft, Drivers, Steering- OEM for Model!
Front Suspension
-OEM for model front end components (minus sway bar adding or swapping.) 40" Carbide center to center width.

BEGINNER CLASS
THIS IS A NO POINTS/ NO PAYOUT CLASS.
- 1- 1st place only trophy awarded per race!*
DRIVERS MUST BE NEW TO VINTAGE SNOWMOBILE RACING OR HAVE NOT TROPHIED WITH LONG LAKE VINTAGE SNOWMOBILE RACING IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.
TROPHY AWARD TO FIRST PLACE FINISHING DRIVER ONLY. ONCE YOU HAVE PLACED FIRST IN THIS CLASS, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO RUN THIS CLASS AGAIN.
SLEDS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS CLASS ARE SINGLE OR TWIN, HD or HR Stock.
Drivers MUST be age 16 and UP. Men and Women, NO YOUTH!
This class will give you a chance to get out and try your buddies sled and get HOOKED on Vintage Snowmobile Racing!- Give it a shot!

- Must agree to all decisions made by officials, uncontested!!! ( No cry babies allowed!)
- NO drug or alcohol use before or during races.
- Must have a working tether cord and USE it.
- Must wear a helmet and eye protection.
- Your brakes must be in WORKING condition. (will be checked)
Engines:

- 1973 and older ,no limited production or race chassis, none jackshaft chassis.
- Skis must be original or stock replacement. NO Aluminum! Spreaders are allowed. You CAN run carbides.
- Fuel tanks should be original or same size.

- NUMBERS must be 8” AND visible on BOTH sides. (Should be black and white)
- Suspension, track and chain case may be 1976 and older stock production. No sno pro suspensions.
- Snow flap must touch ice/snow with rider on machine.
Track:
- Studs CAN measure up to ½ above the highest point of your track max. Will be checked with gauges.
- Any seat may be used and any handle bars.
- You can change clutching springs, weights and gear ratios.
- Brakes. May use hydraulic brake setup off of newer sled but must be mounted in stock location. No jackshaft chassis.
